Unumb Place- A Community of Lifelong Neurodevelopment

Unumb Place has multiple residences operated in South Carolina’s Community Training Home II (CTH II) model. All Unumb Place CTH II residences have four private bedrooms with private bathrooms and are licensed by South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs.

What is a Community Training Home II?

A Community Training Home II offers residents the opportunity to live in a homelike environment in the community with support from qualified and trained Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). DSPs provide a Medicaid waiver service called “residential habilitation,” which is care, supervision, skills training, and supports that promote choice, independence, and community engagement. Residents are encouraged to create their own personal space while living in shared space with three others.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) residential funding, an individual must first be on South Carolina’s Intellectual Disability and Related Disabilities (ID/RD) waiver. Additionally, in most cases, in order to tap into the “residential habilitation” funding for staffing in the home, an individual must have been placed on the DDSN residential waiting list by his or her case manager.
